audubon-expansion-Feb-2011

For those of you who missed the last PTO meeting, here is the latest and cautiously optimistic news regarding the Broadway campus renovations. Renovations are set to conclude late spring/early summer which means that the school will be filled with students once again in the fall of 2015.  This means that we have a busy summer ahead of us.  A special parent committee is being formed to help prepare and raise funds for the playground and outdoor surfaces.  We are calling all Gentilly parents to be ready for action.  If you would like to be part of this committee or have a desire to get involved in any way (there will be a lot of literal heavy lifting), please send an email to Corinne at president@audubonpto.org.

We are all excited about the move and encourage parents to grab a hold of this opportunity to create a fun and inviting outdoor environment for Audubon’s kids.

Join us on Tuesday, February 3rd for Restaurant Night at the Irish House.  The Irish House is New Orleans’ only Irish Gastropub specializing in favorites such as fish & chips and shepherds pie as well as tantalizing creations by Chef Mat Murphy such as the Slow Cooked Short Ribs over a caramelized onion-potato boxty cake with pan jus and a fried egg.  There are options for all diets including many gluten free and paleo options.  The children’s menu isn’t too shabby either with six different offerings for $6 a piece.  If that isn’t exciting enough, Tuesdays are also “buy one, get one” fish & chip night and $3 pints all day!

Keep an eye out for a flier in your child’s backpack later this month for the event.  Each dining party must bring in the flier for a portion of their bill to be donated to ACS.  The flier will also be available for download in the coming days.

helpwantedHave you been wondering where the Rarebird went?  Do you turn red in the face at every poorly edited PTO website post?  Have you been wanting to positively impact the culture of the school that you carefully chose for your child?  Well, look no further.  The communications department is short a co-chair.  We are looking for someone who will assist with writing posts for the website as we determine the fate of the Rarebird.  This is an easy way to fulfill those 25 volunteer hours and meet some fabulous parents and teachers.  I say, “fabulous,” because we are … and we want you.

If you are interested, please contact our illustrious president, Corinne at president@audubonpto.org.
